The leaders of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) will convene in Manila next month for their first summit in over two years, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed. The meeting is set to take place on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, scheduled for November 16 and 17. This gathering precedes a planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Shenzhen, China. The Quad, an informal defense grouping comprising Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, is part of a US-led regional strategy to counter China's influence in the Asia-Pacific. The Philippine ambassador to the US also signaled potential meetings of the "Squad" bloc ahead of the ASEAN gathering.
