MOSCOW, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to discuss cybersecurity with top officials on Wednesday, the Kremlin announced, characterizing the issue as increasingly pressing. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied that the meeting was prompted by a recent series of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian data centers.
Peskov told reporters that while artificial intelligence technologies offer benefits, their weaponization by various states poses threats to national economies, including Russia's. "Naturally, we are no exception, and we must be prepared for these challenges. That is why the president is holding this meeting today," he said.
He clarified that the meeting was not connected to specific, isolated attacks, such as the recent drone strikes on four Russian data centers belonging to tech group Yandex and Sberbank. "No, this is a much more systemic meeting," Peskov stated.
