Meta Platforms is terminating its $2 billion acquisition of AI startup Manus following orders from Chinese regulators related to national security. The U.S. tech giant will unwind the deal, allowing Manus AI to resume independent operations. As part of the separation, Manus AI will delete certain user data generated after December 29, 2025, notifying affected users and allowing them to back up their information. Tencent Holdings Ltd., ZhenFund, and HSG are among the investors who bought back the company, with Tencent becoming Manus' largest shareholder.
