MediaMarktSaturn pulls Ledger products amid tampering reports

The security concerns emerged after an X user, Johannes, claimed on Monday to have purchased two Ledger wallets from separate MediaMarkt stores, both of which allegedly contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules. This follows earlier reports on Friday that Ledger was investigating losses involving devices sold through Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis.

Ledger stated on Tuesday that implants transmitted users’ recovery phrases over cellular networks and that it was investigating reports beyond CryptoBilis. Separately, former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès claimed Tuesday that a Ledger Flex purchased at Singapore's airport contained a spy implant. Ledger referred users to its latest CryptoBilis investigation update without directly addressing the Singapore case. Cointelegraph contacted Ledger for confirmation on tampered devices in Europe but received no response by publication time.
