A Palestinian youth has died and an elderly man was seriously wounded after Israeli settlers opened fire near Sa’ir, north of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that paramedics transported both victims to hospital after performing resuscitation at the scene, with the younger victim later succumbing to his wounds.
According to reports, Israeli settlers also set fire to a building near the community of al-Bi’ah during the raid, with video footage showing flames engulfing the structure. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated that its ambulance crews treated ten Palestinians in total, including two with live-fire wounds and eight others injured by beatings, in an attack in the ar-Ras area of Hebron. A 60-year-old man was shot in the back and hand, and another 46-year-old Palestinian was shot and subsequently abducted by Israeli soldiers.
In a separate but related incident, a Palestinian nurse, Muhammad Mutoor, 26, was shot and partially paralysed by settlers in Sa'ir while attempting to assist the injured. His uncle stated that settlers were firing live ammunition randomly and intended to kill. Access to the area was reportedly blocked by settlers, hindering medical response. Settlers have also been active in other areas around Hebron, harassing families, surrounding homes, and detaining individuals. Activists note that eight settlement outposts have been established on Sa'ir's lands since May 2025, increasing pressure on residents.
The incidents occurred amid a reported escalation in settler violence across the occupied West Bank, with the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documenting thousands of attacks against Palestinians and their property in July, including a significant number in the Hebron governorate. The violence is occurring as Israeli military personnel reportedly safeguard settlers during tours in Hebron's Old City.
