The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported a significant surge in Israeli settler attacks in the occupied West Bank during the first seven months of 2026. The number of attacks reached 4,113, a 63% increase compared to 2,524 during the same period in 2025. The Commission stated that the attacks exceeded those of the previous year in every corresponding month, with June and July recording the highest figures.
The Commission attributed this escalation not to isolated incidents, but to an environment of political, security, and legal enablement that has intensified since the formation of a far-right government at the end of 2022. This enablement, it said, coincides with the rapid expansion of settlements, particularly pastoral outposts, the arming of settlers, and their integration into security formations. The report also highlighted the provision of military protection, a decline in accountability, and an overlap between the occupation army and settlers in controlling land and restricting Palestinian access.
Furthermore, the Commission pointed to wavering international positions and weak deterrence mechanisms as contributing factors that have transformed settler terrorism into an organized tool for imposing geographic realities and pushing Palestinian communities toward decline and displacement.
