Israeli forces raid villages in Syria's Quneitra

Israeli forces entered several villages in Syria's southern Quneitra province with military vehicles, conducting house searches and intimidating residents. The military also fired artillery shells toward an area in the western Damascus countryside.

According to Syrian state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya, Israeli troops advanced into the village of Al-Asbah using six military vehicles, where they carried out house searches. The same outlet reported that Israeli soldiers also conducted house-to-house search operations in the nearby village of Rasm al-Akraf and fired two artillery shells toward an area between the town of Beit Jinn and the al-Tilal al-Hamr region in the western Damascus countryside.

Earlier on Wednesday, Al-Ikhbariyya TV reported that Israeli forces resumed land leveling and expansion activities in parts of Quneitra province while imposing restrictions on civilians. There has been no comment from Syrian authorities on the reported Israeli violations of the country’s sovereignty.

Israeli incursions into southern Syria have become frequent in recent months, often involving raids on homes, the establishment of checkpoints, and the detention of civilians. Following the fall of the Baath government in late 2024, Israel declared the 1974 Disengagement Agreement nullified and moved to occupy the buffer zone along the frontier. Despite the new Syrian administration not issuing threats towards Israel, Israeli forces have carried out air strikes in Syria since the ouster of Bashar al Assad, targeting military sites, equipment, and ammunition.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stated on July 26 that his government was working to sign a security agreement with Israel involving international actors, which he said would pave the way for comprehensive peace without conceding Syria's rights over the occupied Golan.
