Israeli forces launch overnight air raids across southern Lebanon

The IDF stated it carried out the strikes targeting what it described as key training and operational infrastructure used by Hezbollah’s Radwan Unit. Military officials said the operation, led by Northern Command and executed by the Air Force, struck several locations tied to the group’s preparations for attacks on Israeli forces and civilians.

According to the IDF, a primary target was a training and instruction compound used by Radwan operatives for firearms practice, tactical drills, and instruction in a range of weapons systems. The military said the facility played a direct role in shaping attack plans intended for execution along the northern border, describing it as used for planning and carrying out terror plots against IDF forces and citizens.

Security sources noted that the camp allowed Hezbollah to rehearse live fire exercises and other military preparations. The Radwan Unit is considered one of Hezbollah’s elite formations.

In addition to the training site, the IDF struck military buildings and a launch site used by Hezbollah to advance operational plans, which the military described as part of the group’s effort to prepare for future attacks targeting Israeli territory. The IDF spokesperson stated that the targets and training constituted a violation of understandings between Israel and Lebanon and a threat to Israel, adding that the IDF would continue to act to remove any threat.

The strikes hit multiple areas across southern Lebanon, including Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Zoutar al-Sharqiyah, Khallet Mayfadoun, Beit Lif, Hadatha, and the outskirts of Baraachit. Israeli military vehicles were also seen patrolling Baraachit, Hadatha, Beit Yahoun and Mays al-Jabal. Artillery fire targeted Wadi al-Salouqi and areas outside Touline, with machine-gun fire reported in Sarbine, Hadatha, the outskirts of Mays al-Jabal and Wadi Zibqine.

The attacks come amid continuing tensions between Israel and Lebanon following the outbreak of a new round of hostilities on March 2, which effectively shattered a ceasefire that had been in place since November 2024. US-led diplomatic efforts have been seeking new security arrangements between the two countries.
