Israeli forces shot and killed a 54-year-old Palestinian man, Ziad Mohammed Jaber, during a dawn raid in el-Bireh in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported. Jaber was treated for gunshot wounds to the abdomen and thigh at the scene before being taken to the hospital, where he later died.
In a separate incident, the Palestinian health ministry announced the death of 28-year-old Abdul Karim Muhammad Khader Suleiman, who it said was shot and killed by Israeli forces in the town of Aqraba. The Israeli military stated that soldiers encountered Suleiman holding a knife, which he intended to use to attack them, after he had thrown a Molotov cocktail and an improvised explosive device towards them. Aqraba's mayor, Salah al-Din Jaber, told AFP that Suleiman was unarmed, had been arrested, and was then executed, with his body being withheld by Israeli authorities. He also stated that Israeli forces had shelled the house where Suleiman was located.
Separately, 26-year-old Abdel Rahman Darawsha was shot and killed by Israeli troops during a raid on Far’a refugee camp in the south of Tubas town, according to Palestinian authorities. The official Wafa news agency, citing the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported that Darawsha succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained when Israeli forces stormed the camp and opened live fire.
Violence in the occupied West Bank has escalated since the war in Gaza began in October 2023. According to an AFP tally based on data from the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli forces or settlers have killed at least 1,108 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023. Israeli figures show at least 48 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations during the same period.
