IRGC claims strikes on US facilities in Iraq's Erbil

Earlier, military facilities hosting U.S. forces across several Persian Gulf countries and the headquarters of anti-Iran separatist groups in Erbil came under missile and drone attacks launched by Iran. Tensions escalated after the U.S. military targeted a tanker in international waters reportedly heading toward Iran’s Khark Island. Iran subsequently responded with a missile attack on a vessel described as American-Israeli near the Strait of Hormuz, followed by reports of U.S. forces striking a military communications tower in southern Qeshm Island.

In response, Iran launched what it called a large-scale deterrent operation. Kuwait's Ministry of Defense reported being under attack by hostile missiles and drones, with air defense systems engaging threats. Explosions were reported in southern Kuwait and at Ali Al Salem Air Base, with Camp Arifjan also reportedly struck. In Bahrain, air raid sirens and air defense systems were activated, and Al Jafri Base and the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters were reportedly hit. Unconfirmed reports suggested explosions at U.S. troop locations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with military vessels off the UAE coast and U.S. bases in the UAE also reportedly targeted.

CENTCOM confirmed that U.S. personnel and facilities across countries bordering the Persian Gulf had come under Iranian missile and drone attacks.
