Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated that Tehran would no longer consider itself bound by the agreement if the US failed to uphold its side.
Iravani emphasized that under the memorandum, responsibility for maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, including the planning of all necessary demining operations, rests exclusively with Iran. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reinforced this stance, stating on X that the "era of one-sided deals is over" and that the US must "keep your word or pay the price." Ghalibaf's post included an image of Article 5 of the memorandum, which pertains to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and states that "The Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements."
