Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority, a body established by Tehran to oversee passage requests in the Strait of Hormuz, announced on Tuesday that all vessels belonging to the South Korean shipping company Sinokor will face "legal action" beginning November 1. The authority cited that Sinokor vessels had committed the highest number of crossing violations in the strait over the past three months, with "appropriate actions" already taken against at least seven of them. Ships owned by Sinokor were previously included on a list issued by Iran in August, which named 45 tankers that allegedly broke the rules for crossing the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has been seeking to increase its control over the strategic waterway, restricting transit to gain leverage and disrupt oil flows.
