Interactive Brokers, a major brokerage managing over $900 billion in client assets, has introduced cryptocurrency staking services, beginning with Ethereum. This new offering, developed in partnership with Zerohash, allows eligible clients to earn rewards on their Ethereum holdings. The service is accessible through the Staking Dashboard in IBKR’s Client Portal, where users can manage staking and unstaking requests and monitor activity.
This expansion follows Interactive Brokers' earlier forays into the crypto space, including the launch of Bitcoin and Ethereum futures trading earlier this year in collaboration with Coinbase Derivatives. The firm currently supports trading for 20 different crypto assets.
Milan Galik, CEO of Interactive Brokers, drew a parallel between the new staking service and the company's Stock Yield Enhancement Program, emphasizing the goal of enabling clients to generate additional income from their held assets. Despite the launch of this new crypto offering, Interactive Brokers' stock (IBKR) saw a slight decline of over 1% on the day, trading around $87, according to TradingView data. The stock has also experienced a 4% decrease over the past month, though it remains up over 32% year-to-date.
In addition to its crypto initiatives, Interactive Brokers has also ventured into the prediction markets industry, launching a unified platform in May that integrates offerings from Kalshi, CME, and ForecastEx to provide users with aggregated contracts and competitive pricing.
