Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro was ordered to surrender his passports and banned from leaving the country just hours after his defeat in the presidential election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The ruling was issued by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes in relation to a criminal case investigating Bolsonaro's possible involvement in a money-laundering scheme. Bolsonaro posted a video denying plans to flee and claiming the request was politically motivated, stemming from remarks made by his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro. The ruling also prohibits contact with a lawyer linked to betting companies suspected of laundering approximately £680 million.
