The severe drought in South Gyeongsang Province poses a significant risk to water resources, potentially impacting agriculture, industry, and daily life. The extensive mobilization of resources highlights the severity of the situation and the government's efforts to mitigate its effects.
South Korea is facing a severe drought, particularly in the southeastern region of South Gyeongsang Province. In response, fire authorities have deployed over 150 water tankers, including 100 from outside the province, to deliver water. This deployment comes as the province's average water reservoir storage rate has fallen to 32.2 percent, well below the typical 70.6 percent. The national firefighting mobilization order, initially set to end, has been extended due to the critical water storage levels. Under this order, 12,445 tons of water were supplied over two days. The interior ministry has also announced plans to establish a dedicated task force, collaborating with private logistics companies, to further support the transport of water and essential equipment to drought-affected areas.
