More than half of the newly sanctioned individuals and entities are linked to missile production, according to Kaja Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief. The agreement was ratified by EU envoys the previous Wednesday. The sanctions entail travel bans and asset freezes for those listed and prohibit EU citizens and companies from making funds or economic resources available to them.
With these additions, the total number of people and entities under EU sanctions related to the war in Ukraine reaches nearly 4,650. The package also includes 77 Russian lawmakers who participated in parliamentary elections held in Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine. The EU's principal sanctions blacklist against Russia previously included just over 3,000 entities.
