EBay announced Thursday it will cut about 9% of its global workforce, impacting roughly 1,000 employees, as part of a restructuring plan to move resources to its top strategic priorities. The online marketplace operator also expects to report third-quarter results above its previous forecast. The company anticipates pretax restructuring charges of $130 million to $150 million, primarily for severance and post-employment benefits, with most of these charges to be recorded in the fourth quarter of 2026. CEO Jamie Iannone communicated the changes to employees, citing simplification of operations and redirection of resources toward faster-growing areas.
