Bank of America has appointed Yuta Komori as chair of its Asia Pacific Global Industrials Investment Banking (GIG) group, according to an internal memo. Meng Gao and Masashi Toda have been named co-heads of the group.
In his new capacity, Komori will provide guidance and support the development of the firm's industrials franchise across the region, while continuing in his role as co-head of Japan Investment Banking. Gao and Toda are tasked with driving growth for the industrials business throughout Asia Pacific, collaborating with country, sector, and product partners to enhance client coverage and connectivity across Bank of America's global platform.
These leadership adjustments align with the bank's broader strategy to refine its investment banking leadership in key markets and sectors. The move aims to bolster client coverage and capitalize on an anticipated resurgence in global dealmaking activity. Earlier this year, Bank of America expanded its U.S. investment banking footprint by hiring nine senior bankers to cater to growing demand from middle-market companies.
Komori will report to Peter Guenthardt, head of Asia Pacific GCIB. Gao and Toda will report to Guenthardt on a regional basis and to Loli Wu and Justin Anstee, global co-heads of Global Industrials Investment Banking, on a global basis. Gao has been a senior member of Bank of America's China Investment Banking team since joining in 2015. Toda will maintain his current positions as head of Japan Industrials and Natural Resources & Energy Transition Investment Banking, as well as Japan Investment Banking Strategy officer.
