Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has signed a long-term lease for data center capacity at EverWind Fuels' project in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, marking its first data center agreement in Canada. The deal is part of EverWind's plan to invest over C$10 billion in the data center campus and wind power projects, which it calls the largest privately funded investment in the province's history. The first phase of the data center is expected to come online by the end of 2027 with 95 megawatts of capacity, followed by a second phase in 2028 for a total of 420 megawatts. Anthropic stated the capacity will help meet growing demand for its Claude models from Canadian and global customers, while EverWind assured that ratepayers and water resources would be protected.
