Key facts
- Advanced circuit boards are now essential building blocks for AI servers.
- APAC accounts for 58% of global semiconductor industry revenue.
- Over 2,000 new data centers are expected globally between 2026 and 2035.
- Samsung Electro-Mechanics secured a 2.6 trillion won package substrate contract with Nvidia.
- LS ELECTRIC signed a 169 billion won contract for power distribution solutions.
The escalating demand for artificial intelligence is creating a crunch for advanced printed circuit boards (PCBs), a critical component for AI servers. These boards have been transformed to meet the sophisticated demands of AI, moving beyond their commoditized past.
A new report by FedEx and Frost & Sullivan highlights the Asia Pacific region's central role in the semiconductor ecosystem, accounting for about 58% of global revenue. China is identified as a major market and manufacturing hub within this ecosystem.
The report, 'From AI to EVs: How APAC Semiconductors Drive the Global Innovation Map,' also notes that AI and high-performance computing are the primary drivers of semiconductor demand, with over 2,000 new data centers expected globally by 2035. This surge is also increasing demand for supporting infrastructure like servers, networking equipment, and power solutions.
