Boeing forecast to post small quarterly loss despite recent wins, analysts say

By Dan Catchpole

SEATTLE, Oct 26 (Reuters) - ‌Despite a flurry of wins for Boeing in recent months, Wall Street analysts expect the planemaker to ‌post a loss per share of 21 cents when ‌it reports its third-quarter results on Tuesday, according to LSEG data.

During the third quarter, the company won the US ‌Navy's sixth-generation F/A-XX fighter contract and certified the last two 737 MAX variants. It delivered 363 737 MAX jets through the first nine months of 2026, its fastest pace ever.

Nonetheless, as of market open on Monday, Boeing's share price was ‌down 17.3% year to date.

BNP Paribas analyst Matt Akers told Reuters that investors care most about free cash flow and its major driver — deliveries — and current drains — 777-9 certification and building new defense production facilities.

While Boeing hit a new record for 737 MAX deliveries, ‌increasing its production rate has taken longer than executives had expected. The company is currently trying to stabilize output at 47 737 jets a month.

It has ‌also struggled to increase 787 production from eight jets a month to 10.

Boeing's recent successes had already been accounted for by the market, and they had little effect on the company's share price, Akers said.

Highlights of investment ‌analysts' consensus expectations, according to LSEG data:

• $330.5 million in free cash flow in the third quarter, $2.3 billion for the year.

• $905 million ‌in capital expenditures.

• Net loss of $153 million, compared to an actual net loss of almost $6 billion during the same period in 2025.

• Net debt of $25.4 billion, down from $30.4 billion one year ago.
