Carmen Mercado, who previously served as the national president of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and as director of affordable lending at Freddie Mac, has joined eXp Realty as a real estate agent. Mercado brings more than two decades of experience spanning residential real estate, brokerage leadership, housing finance, and affordable lending.
Throughout her career, Mercado has worked as a broker, trainer, growth strategist, and a New York Department of State-certified real estate instructor. She has also been recognized on HousingWire's annual Women of Influence list.
Leo Pareja, CEO of eXp Realty, stated that Mercado's career has been dedicated to making the industry more inclusive and prepared for future challenges, aligning with eXp Realty's business model. He emphasized that the company is gaining not only an experienced leader but also someone committed to improving the skills of other professionals in the business.
Mercado entered the real estate industry in 2002 after a challenging first-time homebuying experience with her husband, a military veteran. At the time, she was working on Wall Street, but the Sept. 11 attacks motivated her to pursue a career that offered more family time and allowed her to assist others in navigating the homebuying process.
Mercado plans to leverage her philosophy of preparation meeting opportunity at eXp Realty. She aims to grow her own team, expand her residential and investor business, and collaborate with corporations, nonprofits, and industry partners on business development initiatives. She also intends to continue sharing market insights to help agents identify opportunities.
