Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram are bracing for severe thunderstorm activity and moderate rainfall on June 12, 2026. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching up to 80 kmph.
The weather activity, triggered by a cyclonic circulation over Pakistan, is expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat. The IMD forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds across the national capital. Similar conditions are anticipated for neighbouring areas like Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad.
Temperatures are expected to drop significantly by Friday, with maximums forecast to reach around 34-35 degrees Celsius, a decrease of 6-7 degrees from Thursday's predicted highs of 40-42 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures are expected to gradually rise again after Friday.
The southwest monsoon is currently projected to reach Delhi and the National Capital Region between June 25 and June 30.
