UN probe finds Sudan RSF committed genocide in al-Fashir

A United Nations investigation has concluded that Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) committed genocide in al-Fashir, located in North Darfur. The probe found that the RSF engaged in mass killings, rape, abductions, and forced starvation as part of an intentional policy. The RSF has denied these allegations.

Concurrently, there are mounting fears for the city of el-Obeid, a strategically important front-line location in Sudan's ongoing civil war. Intensifying drone strikes have raised concerns among human rights groups, who warn of a potential massacre. These fears are amplified by reports of summary executions and widespread violence in the area.

In related incidents, drone strikes on civilian vehicles in Sudan have recently killed at least 20 people. One specific attack near Khartoum resulted in the deaths of 10 civilians who were traveling to a wedding. The Sudan Doctors Network has blamed the RSF for this particular attack.

The situation highlights the severe impact of the conflict on civilians, with allegations of genocide in one region and imminent threats of massacres in another, alongside direct attacks on civilian infrastructure and populations.
