Lee, Norway PM Store discuss deepening cooperation in security, technology

During a NATO summit held in Ankara, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held discussions on several key diplomatic fronts. In one meeting, Lee and U.S. President Donald Trump explored deepening cooperation on the construction of U.S. military vessels. This conversation built upon a prior request made by President Trump at the G7 summit.

In a separate engagement at the summit, President Lee Jae Myung met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The two leaders reached an agreement to address the issue of North Korean soldiers captured by Ukraine on humanitarian grounds. This approach will involve respecting the wishes of the captured individuals. The summit where this agreement was forged took place on the sidelines of the broader NATO summit.

Concurrently, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un marked the 32nd anniversary of the death of his grandfather and state founder, Kim Il-sung. Kim Jong-un visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun at midnight to pay his respects at the mausoleum. He was accompanied by senior North Korean officials during this commemorative visit.
