Yemeni government forces have shot down a suspected drone launched by the Houthis in the Hadramout region, according to the media centre of the Yemeni Emergency Forces. The drone was downed near the al-Thaniyah camp by the air defence system of the First Division of the Yemeni Emergency Forces.
This incident follows recent escalations, including Houthi missile and drone attacks on government military camps in Marib and Hadramout, which resulted in casualties. Yemeni state television reported that air defenses intercepted several Houthi drones over Marib. Competing reports on casualties from these attacks vary, with some outlets citing around 30 soldiers killed and others reporting higher numbers.
The Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, claimed the attacks killed "hundreds" and destroyed "a large number of camps and depots." He alleged the strikes were launched after Houthi forces detected "massive Saudi military mobilisation."
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Saudi-backed government stated it carried out drone attacks on Tuesday against Houthi positions in al-Makha, Harib, Bayhan, and other locations in eastern Yemen’s Shabwa governorate. The Saudi-led coalition spokesperson condemned the Houthi actions as "indiscriminate shelling" and a violation of international humanitarian law, warning that deterrent measures would continue. The Yemeni Armed Forces vowed to "confront escalation with escalation."
