Ukraine suspends Transcarpathia recruitment chief amid mobilization reform review

As a direct response to documented issues, Drapatyi's team suspended the head of the Transcarpathia Oblast Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center and dispatched a large-scale inspection to the region. Lubinets noted that his office has repeatedly flagged problems in Transcarpathia, often addressed only after alleged abuses become public.

Lubinets expressed optimism about the current administration's willingness to address these issues, stating, "There is no desire on Drapatyi's team to turn a blind eye to the problem." He anticipates the inspection will reveal a substantial number of violations, potentially including criminal offenses. Lubinets also plans to advocate for a dedicated working group within the Defense Ministry to fundamentally overhaul the mobilization system once a new defense minister is appointed.

Forced mobilization remains a significant source of social and political tension in Ukraine, as the military's need for personnel clashes with reluctance to serve among eligible men not currently enlisted.
