The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on July 30 that Russia has lost approximately 1,444,810 troops since the commencement of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. This figure includes 1,360 casualties sustained by Russian forces over the preceding day.
In addition to personnel losses, the report details significant equipment attrition for Russia, including 12,230 tanks, 25,049 armored combat vehicles, 127,621 vehicles and fuel tanks, 47,003 artillery systems, 1,976 multiple launch rocket systems, and 1,522 air defense systems. Russia has also reportedly lost 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,071 unmanned ground systems, 34 ships and boats, and two submarines.
Ukraine's General Staff has withheld information regarding its own losses, citing operational security. Independent Western think-tank analyses, such as those from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), indicate that Russian casualties substantially exceed those of Ukraine. A CSIS report from January 2026 estimated Ukraine's total casualties between 500,000 and 600,000 from February 2022 to December 2025, with an estimated 100,000 to 140,000 killed in action.
