Seven people, including the student gunman, were killed in a shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand. The incident occurred on Friday, with authorities confirming that both students and teachers were among the fatalities. Fifteen individuals were injured.
An 18-year-old student described hearing multiple gunshots, initially mistaking them for firecrackers. Lt. Col. Trirong Phophan, a police spokesman, stated that the suspected shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong confirmed that teachers and students were among those killed.
This marks the second school shooting in Thailand this year, following an incident in February where a teacher was killed and a student injured in the southern part of the country. Emergency worker Kiatikhun Verapongpradith recounted arriving at the scene to find students with injuries and a male teacher deceased on an upper floor, while a female teacher was found with wounds and later transported to the hospital after resuscitation efforts failed.
According to district authorities, the school had an enrollment of approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers for the 2025 academic year. Deputy Education Minister Akkharanan Kannakittinan stated he was coordinating assistance for those affected.
