The South Korean Embassy in Venezuela, in collaboration with the Korean Community Association, has provided essential aid to residents displaced by recent devastating earthquakes in the country. Officials reported that on Saturday, local time, representatives visited a temporary shelter in the Libertador municipality, distributing lunch boxes containing Korean food, snacks for children, and other relief supplies to approximately 600 displaced individuals.
Further assistance was delivered on July 10 and 14, with visits to a police station in Baruta, a city known for its significant Korean community, and another temporary shelter. The efforts were bolstered by contributions from abroad; the Korean Association in Colombia sent US$2,000 (approximately 2.98 million Korean won) in relief funds and face masks to their Venezuelan counterparts. Additionally, the Korean Association in Mexico and a volunteer group raised and donated $5,700 through local fundraising campaigns.
While the Korean community in Venezuela reported no serious casualties, some residents experienced severe damage to their homes as a result of the earthquakes.
