NATO chief Mark Rutte and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy are scheduled to participate in a "Coalition of the Willing" meeting in Paris, according to the French presidency. The gathering aims to build on recent momentum to support Ukraine, following the NATO summit held earlier in the week. The meeting will also address security guarantees for Ukraine once a ceasefire with Russia is achieved.
Two additional countries, Moldova and North Macedonia, have joined the coalition. European Union leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa are also expected to attend the Paris meeting.
During a visit to London, President Zelenskyy urged the United States to expand sanctions on Russian oil to the entire sector and requested long-range missiles. He met with two dozen European leaders to discuss military aid and ways to protect Ukraine's power grid from Russian attacks. The talks also focused on supplying Kyiv with longer-range missiles.
Leaders at the London meeting reiterated their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence. They also agreed to develop further restrictive measures against Russia’s energy and financial sectors, including Russian oil and gas exports. The group reaffirmed an agreement to provide at least €40 billion in military support to Ukraine in 2025, matching the commitment made by the NATO Alliance in 2024.
