At least 13 people were killed and several injured in separate Russian and Ukrainian attacks on civilian areas across towns and cities on Thursday, local officials reported. The attacks occurred in various locations, many situated near the front lines of the ongoing conflict.
In Ukraine, a Russian guided bomb attack on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in three fatalities and 15 injuries, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov. Reuters footage showed firefighters and rescue crews working at the scene of damaged buildings. Russian missiles also struck Odesa, a frequent target, killing two people, injuring six, and damaging civilian infrastructure. Near Kharkiv, a Russian drone attack claimed one life, while an earlier drone strike close to Kupiansk killed three people. In the Donetsk region, the primary area of fighting, one person died and five were injured near Kramatorsk.
On the Russian side of the border, local officials in Belgorod Region stated that one person died when Ukrainian forces shelled a settlement near the border. Additionally, Denis Pushilin, the Moscow-installed head of Russian-controlled areas in Donetsk, reported one fatality in an area under Russian control. Reuters noted that it could not independently verify the accounts from either side.
