Buenos Aires provincial police announced on Wednesday the seizure of Nazi uniforms, weapons, ammunition, and accessories from the home of a man who sold items online. The discovery was made after authorities learned of a Facebook Marketplace post by a user named Fernando Martinsohn, who was identified as Diego Fernando Martinez.
During a court-ordered search of Martinez's home in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, police found numerous Nazi-related items. The entrance hallway of the home featured floor tiles with swastikas. Among the seized items were a copy of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and daggers bearing swastika insignia.
Martinez did not respond to requests for comment. Argentine law prohibits the distribution of propaganda promoting ideas of racial superiority, though police did not specify potential charges against Martinez.
Argentina has a history of Nazi presence, having received both Holocaust survivors and Nazi war criminals after World War Two. This is not the first time Nazi-related discoveries have been made in the country; last year, authorities charged the daughter of a high-ranking Nazi official with concealing a looted painting.
