Three people, including the mother-in-law and pregnant sister of a suspected gang leader, were killed in a drug-related shooting in southern Spain. The incident occurred Sunday night in the El Rocio neighborhood of Isla Cristina, a coastal town near the Portuguese border.
Police identified the victims as the 62-year-old mother-in-law and 39-year-old sister of a suspected gang leader known as "El Baba." The leader's 18-year-old nephew was seriously wounded in the attack, and another individual sustained minor injuries. A 16-year-old boy, unrelated to the family, was also killed.
The Guardia Civil police force is investigating the triple homicide as a potential score-settling between rival drug-trafficking gangs. The "Baba Clan," associated with "El Baba," has reportedly been in conflict with other families, such as the "Moriña Clan." Violence between these groups escalated following a deadly shooting in 2024.
Authorities are searching for an attacker who used a long-barrelled gun. "El Baba" was arrested weeks after the 2024 incident in northern Spain and is currently in pre-trial detention.
