Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that 340 Ukrainian drones were dispatched toward the capital region over a 24-hour period, with the majority being downed by air defense forces on the outskirts. He reported that more than 50 drones were destroyed before reaching Moscow.
Sobyanin provided these figures on Telegram, noting that Ukrainian drones routinely approach the Russian capital and are intercepted by anti-aircraft units. This comes as Ukraine has escalated its attacks on Russian infrastructure, particularly targeting oil industry sites. The Ukrainian military claimed responsibility for drone strikes on the Salavat petrochemical complex in the Urals and the Afipsky refinery in southern Russia, which have reportedly contributed to gasoline shortages within Russia.
Concurrently, Russian forces have intensified their own drone and missile attacks on Kyiv. Early Tuesday marked the fifth such large-scale assault on the Ukrainian capital this month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported that these attacks damaged 16 sites in Kyiv, including a school and a business, with city officials confirming several fires across the city.
