Israel military seals Palestinian Christian village Taybeh amid settler violence

Taybeh, one of the few remaining Christian villages in the West Bank, is home to the Taybeh Brewing Co. The closure aims to prevent further violence and maintain order, with IDF soldiers dispatched to disperse gatherings and detain suspects if violations occur.

This action follows a UN inquiry released this week, which found that Israeli authorities were directly involved in settler attacks that have resulted in killings, injuries, and displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank. In June, Israeli settlers reportedly obstructed Palestinian firefighters attempting to extinguish a blaze near Taybeh, an incident described by a local priest as part of an "ongoing pattern of intimidation and unjustified violence."

Some Western countries have begun imposing sanctions on settler groups due to these violent attacks. The West Bank and Jerusalem are home to approximately 50,000 Palestinian Christians.
