The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) reported that Israeli forces detained 630 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, during July. This figure contributes to a total of over 25,000 detention cases since 2023, encompassing women and children.
The PPS detailed that these detention campaigns were marked by escalating violations, including field interrogations, violent home raids, systematic destruction of property, and assaults against detainees and their families. The organization also cited instances of family members being held hostage, theft of belongings, and alleged field executions.
Settler attacks, often conducted under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, have reportedly expanded the scope of detentions, particularly in areas targeted by settlement activities. The town of Tell in the Nablus governorate was highlighted as a significant example of this escalation.
As of early August 2026, the number of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons exceeded 9,400. This population includes approximately 370 children and 92 female prisoners. The number of administrative detainees, held without charge or trial, reached 3,198. Additionally, 1,358 detainees from the Gaza Strip are classified by Israeli authorities as 'unlawful combatants'.
The PPS also raised concerns about the conditions within Israeli prisons, alleging intensified violations including torture, starvation, denial of medical treatment, and solitary confinement.
