Amid escalating tensions between Iran and the US, an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza has been announced. Donald Trump and the Board of Peace confirmed the deal.
Senior Hamas officials confirmed to AFP that a deal was reached with Israel, but stressed their expectations for mediators and the Board of Peace to ensure Israel adheres to the agreement. Ghazi Hamad, a senior Hamas official, told Al Jazeera that the Palestinian movement will not take any steps toward disarmament before Israeli forces withdraw from Gaza and that Israel would have no role in the disarmament process. Instead, a Palestinian national committee is set to carry out the disarmament. An official from Hamas also told AFP that the Palestinian technocratic committee established by the Board of Peace to govern Gaza will be "the sole entity" overseeing the management and storage of Hamas' weapons.
In response to an American strike on a residential home in Qeshm that killed several family members, the Iranian army stated it carried out attacks against "strategic US centres" in Kuwait using drones. Meanwhile, Beirut's army commander Rodolphe Haykal said on Thursday that the Israeli army is preventing the Lebanese military from completing deployment in southern Lebanon, stating that "the occupation persists in its attacks and repeated violations to obstruct the army's efforts." Israeli forces carried out "violent explosions" overnight in the southern Lebanese towns of Yahmar al-Shaqif, Arnoun, and Kfar Tebnit, state media reported.
