Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Sunday morning to have destroyed three US F-35 fighter jets and heavily damaged three others in a ballistic missile attack on the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC stated that its Aerospace Force targeted the US F-35 repair hangar and ramp with multiple ballistic missiles.
The IRGC said the attack was in retaliation for a US strike on Qeshm Island on July 30, which killed a couple and their two-year-old child, and injured two other children, causing widespread property damage.
However, the US military has dismissed Iran's claims. US Central Command (Centcom) stated that no US aircraft were destroyed or damaged in the attempted Iranian attacks and that all missiles and drones were intercepted or failed to reach their targets. The IRGC also claimed that several officers and technical personnel were killed in the strike.
