One Indian national remains missing after a commercial vessel, the GFS Galaxy, was attacked off the coast of Oman earlier on Sunday. Of the 11 Indian nationals on board, 10 have been rescued, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The MEA condemned the attack and stated that India's embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities on the ongoing search and rescue operation. The ministry also expressed concern over continuing attacks on commercial shipping in the region and called for de-escalation and unimpeded navigation.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked the Cyprus-flagged container vessel. CENTCOM indicated that a civilian crew member was missing and the vessel sustained significant damage and an onboard fire, preventing it from continuing its voyage.
