During a briefing, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George stated that Prime Minister Modi's visit to France is at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. India's participation as a partner country offers an opportunity to engage with global leaders on issues critical to India and the Global South, reflecting its growing recognition in addressing global challenges.
The summit's outreach sessions on June 16 and 17 will see Prime Minister Modi participating alongside other invited countries. Discussions are expected to cover the renewal of international partnerships, development solidarity, balanced growth, and the effective rollout of artificial intelligence. The French presidency has prioritized reducing macroeconomic imbalances, strengthening critical mineral value chains, resolving geopolitical crises, and combating organized crime.
On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to hold bilateral meetings with G7 leaders and representatives from partner countries and international organizations. The visit, from June 13 to 18, 2026, also includes bilateral discussions with President Macron in Nice and participation in the 'Bharat Innovates' event, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship collaborations. Modi will also attend the VivaTech Summit in Paris, highlighting India's role as an innovation hub.
