Five people were killed and two dozen others injured in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Belgorod region, according to regional authorities. Russia's Defense Ministry reported destroying more than 150 Ukrainian drones over the European part of the country, Crimea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov.
In separate incidents, Russian missile strikes hit a high-rise apartment block in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, killing two people and injuring 13. Eight more were injured in Odesa after "dozens of missiles and drones" struck the city and surrounding region.
Ukraine has been conducting long-range drone strikes against Russian energy infrastructure and other targets deep inside Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been advocating for increased air defense systems, particularly Patriot systems, and exploring options for domestic production or using Starlink to guide strikes.
