The Danish government has announced its 30th military aid package for Ukraine, valued at approximately 4.4 billion Danish kroner (about $670 million). This latest contribution aims to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities amidst ongoing conflict with Russia.
The package includes a range of essential supplies such as additional ammunition, arms, and equipment, alongside crucial training for Ukrainian soldiers. A significant portion, around 1.3 billion Danish kroner (roughly $200 million), is designated for the "Danish model," a mechanism designed to provide direct financial support to Ukrainian arms manufacturers, thereby strengthening the domestic defense industry.
Funds have also been specifically allocated for long-range artillery ammunition, a critical and high-demand item for Ukrainian forces on the front lines, according to the Danish Defense Ministry. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen emphasized the need to maintain and even increase support for Ukraine, stating that current battlefield dynamics necessitate continued pressure on Russia to improve Ukraine's negotiating position.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022, Denmark has been a consistent provider of defense aid, totaling approximately 76.8 billion Danish kroner ($11.7 billion). This support has included significant equipment such as F-16 fighter jets and Caesar howitzers. Earlier in the week, Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv to explore potential agreements on drone cooperation and enhanced anti-ballistic capabilities.
