Wang will lead a Chinese party and government delegation at the invitation of the North Korean government and the ruling Workers' Party of Korea. He holds the fourth-highest position within China's Communist Party.
The visit follows North Korean Premier Pak Thae-song's recent trip to Beijing, where he met with top Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
