French singer Patrick Bruel has been released under judicial supervision after being indicted for sexual violence, following allegations from more than 20 women. The artist was placed under formal investigation in four cases relating to alleged offenses committed between 2008 and 2019. Prosecutors had requested that Bruel be remanded in custody, but the liberties and detention judge at the Nanterre court rejected this request. Bruel has also been granted assisted-witness status in four other cases, while one file was not examined due to the statute of limitations expiring. As part of his judicial supervision, Bruel is prohibited from leaving French territory, contacting complainants, or visiting massage parlours. He must also provide proof of receiving psychological treatment and has lodged bail of 500,000 euros. Bruel has cancelled all his concerts until September.
