Tyler Phillips earned his first win of the season Thursday, pitching five innings of two-hit ball to lead the Miami Marlins to a 2-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Phillips (1-1) struck out five and walked two. The Marlins' bullpen, with Michael Petersen, Anthony Bender, and Calvin Faucher, combined for six strikeouts, and Pete Fairbanks closed out the game with his eighth save, striking out two.
The Marlins took an early lead in the first inning when Otto Lopez stole third and scored on Xavier Edwards' sacrifice fly. Jakob Marsee extended the lead in the fourth with an RBI single that brought Kyle Stowers home.
