Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop is looking forward after a critical missed field goal last season cost the team a playoff berth. The 44-yard attempt in the regular-season finale against Pittsburgh would have sent the Ravens to the postseason.
Loop spoke to reporters at minicamp, expressing his confidence in his ability to rebound from the high-pressure situation. He described the process of accepting the miss as taking only a day or two, emphasizing the need to learn from the mistake and move on.
"You have to be able to look at it objectively and be like, ‘This is why I missed the kick.’ You learn from it, and you move on. You have to say, ‘Hey, I’m still capable of doing this. My process hasn’t broken,’" Loop said. "There may have been a hiccup or something that went wrong, and you need to be able to look at that, address it and then say, ‘Alright, I’m good. We’re going to the next one.’ So, holding onto it? No, you have to flush it. But, you also have to be able to look at it objectively."
He noted that he received support from other kickers and their families around the league. Loop took over as the Ravens' kicker after the team released veteran Justin Tucker. Despite the pressure of the final kick, Loop maintained that his focus is on his process and being his best moving forward.
