The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Beck Malenstyn to a six-year contract extension worth $17.5 million, keeping him with the team through the 2031-32 season. The deal, announced Monday, carries an average annual value of $2.9 million, more than double the $1.35 million he earned in each of his first two seasons with the Sabres.
Malenstyn, 28, established himself as a valuable bottom-six forward last season, setting a team record with 282 hits and finishing second with 75 blocked shots. He also recorded a career-high seven goals and 14 points in 82 games. He added a goal and three points in 13 playoff games.
The Sabres acquired Malenstyn from the Washington Capitals in June 2024 as part of a trade that sent a second-round pick to Washington. He was originally drafted 145th overall by the Capitals in 2016 and has amassed 19 goals and 48 points in 262 career NHL games split between both franchises.
