TOKYO -- Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management, a Japanese asset manager, has stopped accepting new investments into a stock fund that includes shares of SpaceX. The decision was made due to a surge in demand from retail investors eager to gain exposure to Elon Musk's rocket and artificial intelligence company ahead of its anticipated initial public offering.
SpaceX is reportedly set to begin trading on the Nasdaq market on June 12. The fund managed by Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management also holds investments in other unlisted companies, including Anthropic.
