On August 9, crypto exchange Coinsbuy fell victim to a coordinated attack that resulted in a loss exceeding $8 million. The breach targeted both the TRON and Ethereum blockchains, with the attacker successfully siphoning USDT and ETH. The sophisticated nature of the attack involved the use of the cross-chain swapper Bridgers to facilitate the movement of funds between blockchains. Following the initial theft, the attacker routed the stolen assets through the FixedFloat service. In a subsequent development, ChangeNOW, another financial service, managed to freeze some of the illicitly obtained assets, suggesting an ongoing effort to trace and recover the stolen cryptocurrency.
